What a week!

Well, today is my birthday. I am 36 years old. We have been so busy that I barely remember having Matt's birthday a week ago. He is 34 now. I know, I am an older woman. This picture was from last year, but it sure was fun.

The kids were very sweet and made me lots of colorful cards. Neat thing is...it is also Mother's Day on Sunday, so I have been flooded with lots and lots of wonderful cards on my birthday.

Matt finished my blog for me the other day. I think he felt a little funny. The weather was so bad outside so he unplugged everything. I think he liked hijacking my blog like that.

Yesterday was Mother's day. We have the two best moms in the world. Matt's mom, Judy, brought the kids home from Clinton after taking them to church. She is such a giving person. She also "helped" my kids get me something extra special for me because she wasn't sure if they had already gotten me something for Mother's day of not. It was right up my alley. She always knows what I like. Thanks, Mamaw. She is wonderful for so many other reasons...not just what she does for me:).

My mom, Eleanor, had lots of company this weekend. Three of my brothers, my aunt and uncle, Matt, the kids and I all showed up at her house on Friday night. It was so great to see everyone.
I could go on about her for days and days. She taught me all about loving people. We have a mutual admiration society. :)

This is just about the last "real" week of school for us. The kids get out next week, but basically school is out. The senior are taking their tests and really just showing up for graduation Friday night. Claire's graduation is in the morning. :) I can't believe my baby is almost in 1st grade.

The boys have awards day on Thursday. I think Nana may come up for all the festivities.
I am looking forward to summer. It is such a blessing, also, knowing that Matt and I already have jobs.....no interviewing....no moving.....not as much change. Just ....what do we want to do this summer? It will be nice to hang pictures, etc. We are going to have to have people hold us accountable, because we really want to save money for a new vehicle and summer has many temptations and wonderful ways to spend our money. We want to pay cash for our next car. No debt is what we want. Except for the house, which we "want" to pay off early. We need to get intense with this money saving and sacrifice. We always seem to make little rationalizations about the money we spend.

Maybe we could have a big benefit concert......we could just sing until our vocal chords fell out. Kidding. I wish that was a commodity that people really needed. Time for another CD? Hmmmmmm? Maybe.

Well, have a great week.

Long time no see

Wow, I can't believe it has been a month since I last posted. Should I bore you all with the details? Hmmmm.....

Well, my talent show was April 10th.....there was much excitement. Fun, but I am glad it is over.

Matt and Matthew went to state competitions. I led worship at a women's conference in Harmontown. It was a first for me. Couldn't have done it without my husband's help (Powerpoint, etc.). Moral support as well. (Ok, I tried not to freak out about it, but at some point it happened. Not a complete and total freak out just a little hypertension). The day turned out to be a huge blessing.

Now we are in the days of birthdays and Spring concerts.....band banquets, etc. The boys are taking the MCT starting tomorrow and we are having many discussions about their futures of ACTs, SATs, GREs, etc. I am glad they are kind of psyched now. Jacob says he either wants to be a doctor, dentist of marine biologist. He and Benjamin want to study sharks together.
I guess we need to move to the ocean. Sardis Lake isn't going to cut it.

I will be giving Miguel the MCT tomorrow. I have never been an administrator of the MCT. I have only been the person who walks around and tries not to fall asleep....tries not to freak kids out by standing behind them for too long, etc. It is kind of stressful. :) Now I just have to talk forever. Poor Miguel. I know he doesn't want to listen to me for that long, or any at all. To take a scored test in English when you are a native Spanish speaker.....whew!

Tomorrow morning I get to have fun with Breanna and Miguel while the other kids are taking the MCT, then when they finish I will give Miguel his. I do feel sorry for the proctor who will give the MCT in the morning and then turn around and proctor for me in the afternoon. I wonder who that lucky person will be. :/

I hate that we missed seeing Jason and Brandy this weekend. They came to Oxford for the Double Decker thingy and to see family, but we couldn't manage to work it out. We went to Matthew's Jazz festival at school. We love Jazz, so that was a treat. We also got some more things put away at home. I love getting more moved in.

I am not sure who all is coming this weekend. We need to talk to all of our sweet moms. Matt's birthday is Thursday and mine is next Thursday, so this is our month of parties. Mother's Day is soon and then on the 20th we will have our anniversary. I love May.

I can't wait to see mommas. We miss them so much up here.

Not sure if that catches us up, but it is close.

I miss singing around. We need to try to get some things set up for this summer.

Well, take care.
